To observe the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) celebrated the 76th Independence Day with great pomp and ceremony in the University campus on August 15, 2022. Amid the presence of all faculty members, staff and other officials, Rev. Fr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK hoisted the National Flag infront of the Britto House of the University.

“Make your mind as broad as the sky and turn your thoughts as generous as the ocean, only then you will realise the essence of Independence” - were the words uttered by Rev. Fr. Raj infront of the august presence of audience during the celebration of 76th Independence Day. In his vibrant Independence Day speech addressed to the audience, Fr. Raj reiterated the contribution of the University in the higher education sector as a holistic part of development. He also urged everyone to work collectively for the growth and development of the nation irrespective of religion, caste and creed.

A spectacular procession also took place in which the students, staff and other officers holding the National Flags participated to celebrate the completion of 75th years of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
