SXUK : Hostel Facilities
St. Xavier's University, Kolkata also offers residential facilities to the students who are willing to opt for it through the two separate hostel buildings; Tagore Niwas for men and Mother Teresa Niwas for women located within the campus.
The hostels are designed to provide comfortable, safe, inclusive, and secure living. Spacious residential hostels with necessary amenities consists of 2 and 3 occupancy rooms with attached bathroom and covered balcony, games, newspapers, Wi-Fi, cable TV and safe drinking water (Aquaguard Purifier), visitor's lounge, laundry services available on-demand. All hostels are sanitized regularly, and necessary pest control is conducted. Vigilant security and CCTV surveillance ensure a pleasant stay allowing students to focus on academics. Residential staff are always available to support students from different backgrounds to promote Community Living on campus. The hostel life is a platform for lasting friendships.
The hostels accommodate about 500 students – 250 girls and 250 boys. The hostel mess provides 3 meals per day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

- The student will have to submit the Hostel Application Form, as prescribed below.

- Log in to your student portal on the Website.
- Click on the Admission & Course Fee Button.
- Pay Rs.1000 Hostel Application Fee Online.
- Click on the Hostel Application Form and fill in the required details including the preference of room before submitting the form.
- Click on the Print Application button to download the PDF copy of your Hostel Application Form. Also, download the Application Fee Payment Receipt (Rs.1000).
- Take a printout of the form. Paste your passport-size color photograph and put your signature and your parent/guardian's signature in the designated area on the form.
- Send the scanned copy of the filled-up Hostel Application form along with the Application Fee Payment Receipt (Rs.1000) [PDF] to the Hostel Director at hosteldirector@sxuk.edu.in
- You will receive a communication from the Hostel Director informing you about the type of room assigned to you. Toilet-attached rooms (2-Bed or 3-Bed rooms) are reserved for PG students primarily.
- Pay your hostel fee online through your portal within the given deadline.
- At the time of joining the Hostel, you will have to submit the Original Application form and the Payment Receipts for the Hostel Fees paid.

- The Hostel provides three types of rooms: a) Two-Bed Rooms, with common toilets; b) Three-Bed Rooms with an attached toilet, and c) Two-Bed Rooms with an attached toilet.
- Each room has a separate and fully covered balcony.

All the rooms have the basic facilities as detailed below:
- For each student: a bed (35 inches x 78 inches) with frames and hooks for mosquito net, a reading and writing table, a chair, a steel almirah with dress hanging facility inside.
- Common Items in each room: full-size dressing mirror, wash basin with running water, small mirror above the wash basin, linen drying facility in the balcony, curtain for the balcony (girls room only), curtain for all the windows, fans, lights, a lock for the room, with three or four keys – one for each student and one with the Hostel Office
- Common Items Available: common television, newspapers, gym (with a small payment), indoor games items, playgrounds, hot water facilities for bath, drinking water facilities (hot, cold and ordinary), games facilities (basketball, football, shuttle cock, throw ball, volleyball, cricket, etc.)

The following things are to be brought by each student for his/her personal use, which will NOT be provided in the Hostel:
- Mattress and Pillow;
- Mosquito net;
- At least two sets of bed sheets;
- At least two bed covers;
- At least two pillowcases;
- At least one bucket and a mug;
- One or more winter blankets and warm clothing for winter;
- Personal clothes, towels, toilet articles, etc.;
- A drinking water bottle or flask;
- A suitcase/trunk with a good lock to keep valuables securely locked.

- A qualified nurse is available in the University campus throughout. The hostel students can approach her anytime for their health requirements.
- Any medical consultation with the University Nursing Staff is free for all the students, but the doctor's fee (if required) and other expense like medicines, etc., are to be borne by the students.
- Women students can purchase sanitary items in the University or in the Girls' Hostel.
- There is a proper security system in the premises of the Hostel throughout the day and night.
- The Hostel has CCTV coverage in common places and in the surrounding areas to ensure safety.
- As a policy, no student-room in the Hostel will have Air Conditioning facilities.
- The students can bring their own laptops and data cards for their personal internet connectivity. The students can use their laptops in their rooms to access the Wi-Fi/Internet facilities provided in the Hostel.
- Common desktop computers are available in the library and other places in the academic block.
- Printing facilities, photocopying facilities and canteen facilities (for tea, coffee, soft drinks, snacks, etc.) are available inside the campus – All these are chargeable.

- All the Hostel Students are expected to pay their Hostel Fee within the stipulated time before arriving at the Hostel.
- On payment of the Hostel Fees, the provisional admission to the Hostel will be automatically confirmed.
- There is no need to send any payment slip through email, as this is monitored through the online portal.
- Similarly, no acknowledgement email will be sent from the Hostel Administration regarding the receipt of the fees. All these are automated as the payment portal is the reference point both for the students and for the administration.
- All the Hostel students are expected to report to the Hostel one day prior to the commencement of their respective course.
- You are welcome to reach the Hostel one or two days earlier, with the prior permission of the Hostel Administration, which can be obtained by sending an email to the Hostel Director (hosteldirector@sxuk.edu.in)
- For all communications with the Hostel Administration, the students should use the following email: hosteldirector@sxuk.edu.in.
- The fee payments are done online or through RTGS/NEFT. In some special cases, DDs also are accepted. However, the best method is to pay online. In case of payment through RTGS/NEFT, the student must send a scanned copy of the payment slip that will be given by the bank, so that the finance department can verify the payment and make sure it does not get lost in the transaction.

All those who join the Hostel in the Academic Year 2026-27 will pay the Revised Hostel Fee as indicated below. This fee includes room facilities as well as three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
