Students’ Board of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised the much-coveted Xavrang 2023, the annual fest of the university on April 12 and 13, 2023 in the campus.

After a two-year gap due to COVID-19 pandemic, this year Xavrang witnessed a huge gathering of students of SXUK and many other colleges and universities, who spontaneously participated in a series of events in these two days.

In his inaugural speech, Rev. Father John Felix Raj, S.J, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK congratulated the Students’ Board for organising the fest. Amid the presence of visitors and participants of other colleges and universities, he said, “We offer a vibrant academic atmosphere which includes cultural ethos and pathos. Come, see and enjoy what SXUK is.” His words were greeted with thunderous applause of the audience.

The ceremony kicked off with the cutting of cake in the presence of Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, all students, teachers, staff members of the university and external participants. Students from 43 colleges and universities participated in 63 events belonging to literary, cultural, management, debate, street plays (nukkad-natak), sports, legal issues, economic events and photography sections, etc.

Professor-in-charges of different cultural societies run by SXUK gave their valuable inputs in arranging different events. Each event was judged by experts invited from academic and industrial sectors.

The two days were filled with fun and joy. The campus wore a different look as students bedecked themselves with colourful dress. Proper security arrangements were there to avoid any untoward incident.

The fest concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a coruscating DJ performance by Sush and Yohan Music, Mumbai which witnessed a maddening presence of students at the last day.
