Father Lafont Centre for Excellence in Research and Innovation (LCERI) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) successfully organized the 7th Doctoral Colloquium 2026 on the theme “Trends of Future Research” on June 12 and 13, 2026. Conducted in a blended mode, the two-day academic event brought together research scholars from SXUK and various universities and higher educational institutions across the country.

The colloquium commenced with an inaugural session featuring the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the participants, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Vice-Chancellor of SXUK emphasized the importance of research in addressing contemporary societal challenges and fostering innovation.

The inaugural session was graced by Professor Swarup Prasad Ghosh, Director of the Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, who attended as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. In his keynote address, Prof. Ghosh underscored the growing significance of interdisciplinary and future-oriented research in a rapidly evolving global landscape. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Soma Sur, Honorary Director of LCERI.

Following the inaugural programme, technical sessions were held across various thematic and disciplinary tracks. These sessions were chaired by eminent academicians, senior professors, and subject experts from reputed universities and research institutions. Their scholarly observations and constructive feedback enriched the discussions and guided the participating scholars in refining their research work.

Approximately sixty research scholars presented papers spanning diverse disciplines, including Commerce, Management, English, Psychology, Law, Mass Communication, Economics, and Social Work. The presentations highlighted ongoing research, emerging findings, and future directions of inquiry. The sessions encouraged meaningful academic exchange and provided a valuable platform for peer learning and expert mentorship.

Participants described the colloquium as an enriching academic experience that offered opportunities for intellectual engagement and professional growth. Experts appreciated the quality of the research presentations and encouraged scholars to pursue innovative, socially relevant, and impactful research.
