Mindful Education Through Yoga – An Interactive Yoga Session
To celebrate the spirit of wellness, mindfulness, and holistic development, Xavier Law School, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, in association with the Xavier University Sports Society and the Minority University Sports Society, organized an interactive yoga session titled “Mindful Education Through Yoga” on 22 June 2026 at Fr. Albert Huart Hall, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. The programme commenced at 09:30 A.M. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, and administrative staff of the University.
The event was graced by the presence of Rev. Father Dr. John Felix Raj, Vice Chancellor, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, and Rev. Father Dr. Xavier Jayaraj, Registrar, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. Their presence underscored the University's commitment to fostering physical, mental, and emotional well-being among members of the academic community.
The yoga session was conducted by Ms. Mayurakshi Biswas, a renowned yoga instructor, who guided the participants through a series of yoga postures, stretching exercises, breathing techniques (Pranayama), and meditation practices. She explained the numerous physical and psychological benefits of yoga, emphasizing its role in improving flexibility, posture, respiratory health, emotional stability, and mental clarity.
The interactive yoga session successfully enhanced awareness regarding the significance of yoga in daily life. Participants gained practical knowledge of yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation practices that can contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being, and stress management. The event encouraged students and staff members to adopt yoga as regular practice, thereby fostering a healthier and more mindful academic environment.
