International Day of Yoga 2026 at SXUK
To celebrate the spirit of wellness, mindfulness, and holistic development, Xavier Law School—in association with the Xavier University Sports Society and the Minority University Sports Society—successfully organized an event to raise awareness about integrating yoga into daily life. The interactive session, titled “Mindful Education through Yoga,” was held on June 22, 2026, at the Fr. Albert Huart Hall, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. The program saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and students alike.
The event was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Father Dr. John Felix Raj, in the presence of Registrar Father Dr. Xavier Jeyaraj and the Deans of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. Highlighting the importance of the practice, Fr. Felix Raj noted, “Yoga must become a part of daily life to discipline ourselves and to channelize our inner energy properly.” The presence of the university leadership underscored St. Xavier's steadfast commitment to fostering the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of its academic community.
The core session was led by renowned yoga instructor Ms. Mayurakshi Biswas, who guided participants through a comprehensive series of yoga postures (asanas), stretching exercises, breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation practices. By encouraging both students and staff to adopt yoga as a regular practice, this initiative marks a significant step toward fostering a healthier and more mindful academic environment.
