Father Lafont Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation (LCERI), the research wing of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) commenced its fifth batch of Ph.D programmes for the new academic session on July 19, 2023.

In his inaugural speech, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK said, “I wholeheartedly welcome the young research scholars to the university. I wish them to give their best in doing quality research on different areas.” Father Raj also briefed the new scholars on the Xaverian ethos.

Prof. Ashoke Ranjan Thakur, former Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology and West Bengal State University was the Chief Guest. He also delivered a motivational speech on research and ethical values and inspired the new scholars.

Prof. Ashis Mitra, Registrar, SXUK briefed on the rules and regulations of the university. Dr. Soma Sur, Hony Director, LCERI delivered the vote of thanks. All the supervisors were present.

LCERI presently runs Ph.D programme in eight subjects. It started three new Ph.D programmes in Law, Psychology and Social Work this year.
