SXUK organises Faculty Orientation Programme
SXUK conducted a faculty orientation programme on induction ceremony for the new batches of undergraduate and postgraduate sections of Faculty of Commerce and Management and Faculty of Arts and Social Studies on July 22, 2023. The resource person was Rev. Fr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK.
The programme took place in two sessions. The first session was held for the Faculty of Commerce and Management and the second session was for the Faculty of Arts and Social Studies.
In his delightful lecture on how to make the freshers oriented towards the culture of SXUK, Father Raj said, “We should always bring the students to the Xaverian line.” While addressing the teachers on how to make the students familiar with the university, he said, “We should give our students a personal and warm welcome right at the beginning so that they will be able to settle down in the new atmosphere and feel home here. We should continuously motivate them so that they will be able to study properly.”
While focusing on the importance of induction programme, he said, “We are conducting induction programme every year to generate concerns for university among our students. Concerns only bring commitment.”
Repeating the vision of the SXUK ‘to form men and women for others’, he said, “The motto of the SXUK is ‘Nihil Ultra’ which means ‘nothing beyond’. Therefore, we all should make sure that the students will understand the mission and vision of the university rightly.”
Giving a light on the values of Jesuit education, he asked the teachers, “Help the students to build up their leadership. Assist them to be committed towards their responsibility so that the nation will grow as a whole.”
A set of guidelines on induction programme and related documents were also shared with the faculty members. The entire programme took place at the Board Room of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. The programme concluded with a brief interactive session.
