St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, proudly announces the continued inclusion of its "Inter-Religious Studies for Global Citizenship" course in the prestigious Global Citizenship Curriculum Project, an initiative of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU). For the second consecutive year, this course, offered to first-year undergraduate students under the NEP curriculum, will be featured in Fall 2025, following its successful inclusion in Fall 2024.
The Global Citizenship Curriculum Project has garnered significant participation, with over 700 students from 31 Jesuit universities across 17 countries in Fall 2023 and over 600 students from 37 Jesuit institutions in 20 countries in Fall 2024.
As part of this initiative, our students will engage in Global Student Dialogues, fostering cross-cultural exchange with peers from select Jesuit institutions worldwide. They will also be eligible for the Global Citizenship Fellows Program, a unique opportunity for leadership development and global engagement, culminating in a week-long international study tour next summer.
The Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University serves as the project's secretariat, facilitating academic collaboration, student participation, and knowledge sharing.
Conceived under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., this course embodies St. Xavier's University, Kolkata's commitment to promoting inclusivity, dialogue, and social responsibility, core values of Jesuit education and global citizenship.
