In a bid to acknowledge its students with the functions and procedures of media industry, the Department of Mass Communication, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised a one day visit to the office of The Times of India (TOI), a reputed English daily on November 12, 2022.

A total of fifteen students along with two teachers of the department namely Dr. Reshmi Naskar and Dr. Nitesh Tripathi visited the daily’s Kolkata office to learn how the media industry runs its programmes and manage other tasks.

Mr. Sunanda Sarkar, Resident Editor, TOI guided the students regarding the news processing on daily basis to printing and circulation of newspapers. He also delighted the students on media ethics and analysed why and how it becomes necessary to suppress certain facts to avert unrest in the society. He further discussed on career prospects in print journalism.
