St. Xavier's University, Kolkata marked a milestone in its journey with a grand celebration of its 10th Foundation Day on February 9, 2026. The event, held at the Albert Huart Hall, brought together students, faculty, administrators, and distinguished guests to reflect on the university's growth and achievements.

The celebration began with a prayer led by Fr. Mourlin K. SJ, followed by a screening of a university video showcasing its journey over the past decade. In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. John Felix Raj set a forward-looking tone, highlighting the university's commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility.

The event featured a special lecture by Roopen Roy, Founder of Sumantrana Management Consultants, on "Academia-Industry Interaction for Future Growth." The Chief Guest emphasized the need for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration between higher education and industry.

The university also announced that the 2026 Convocation will be graced by Rev. Fr. Arturo Sosa, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Shashi Tharoor will be conferred with the Honoris Causa degree.

Additionally, Fr. Felix Raj announced the list of faculties and staff with 100 per cent attendance in the year 2025, who will receive an incentive of one month's basic salary and a freeship scholarship to PwD (persons with disability) students admitted in the university.

The event included the release of a book, "Footprints - Essays in Honour of Fr. Felix Raj," and a tribute to Professor Ashis Mitra for his dedication and service to the university.

In his address, Dr. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal of the Heritage Institute of Technology, praised Father Felix Raj's contributions to Jesuit education. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and high tea.

As St. Xavier's University embarks on its next decade, Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. Felix Raj's words resonate with renewed significance: "The establishment of this University is an act of God."
