Aiming to keep its students aware on modern industrial scenario, the Xavier Business School (XBS) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) hosted a business summit on September 23, 2022 in the University campus. The theme was ‘Challenges of Industry 4.0.’ Eminent industrialist Mr. Sanjoy Banerjee, Managing Director and Head of the Global Delivery Centre, PwC, India was the chief guest.

The session began with introductory speeches by Prof. Ashis Mitra, Registrar; followed by Dr. Soma Sur, Director, LCERI; and Dr. Manodip Ray Chaudhuri, Dean, XBS. Mr. Sanjoy Banerjee shared his experience on growing importance of strategic management and marketing in modern business world. He further elaborated on the significance of strategies used by organizations to deal with business volatility and iterated various characteristics to pursue them.

The summit also had two panel discussions on ‘Organizational metamorphosis in the post-pandemic era' and ‘Digitalization of people management'. Among the guest speakers were Mr. Nirmalya Gupta, Practice Director and Global Head Delivery Lead, Retail Industry Product and Digital Solutions on Merchandising Stores and Restaurants; Mr. Subhadip Ghosh, Director, Cognizant; Mr. Pratyay Lahiri, Zonal Head, Ashok Leyland; Ms. Bristhi Mondal, AVP – HR, NRI FinTech, Mr. Shrutorsi Mukherjee, Assistant Vice President – HR, HDFC Bank Ltd. and Mr. Rahul Kashyap, Regional Head HRBP and L&D, Arvind Lifestyle Brand Ltd. The programme reached its conclusion with a business quiz, conducted by Mr. Atri Bhattacharya, a senior bureaucrat. All the faculty members and students participated in this event.
