Organized by the Fr. Arrupe Central Library at St. Xavier’s University Kolkata, the Xaverian Academic Bookfest 2026 was held on August 12–13, 2026, marking a landmark highlight in the university’s academic calendar.

The event was formally inaugurated by the Registrar, Rev. Dr. Xavier Jeyaraj, SJ, who cut the ribbon and highlighted the enduring importance of literature in fostering intellectual growth and rigorous scholarship.

The two-day exhibition brought together 57 vendors and publishers, showcasing nearly 18,000 titles across a diverse range of disciplines—including Computer Science, Engineering, Psychology, Management, Law, Social Work, Competitive Examinations, and General Fiction. The fair drew an enthusiastic turnout of students, faculty, and research scholars who actively engaged with publishers, explored emerging titles, and enriched both their personal and academic libraries.

Beyond promoting reading, the Bookfest strengthened partnerships between academia and the publishing industry, reaffirming Fr. Arrupe Central Library's vital role as a catalyst for interdisciplinary exploration and dialogue. Overall, the initiative was a resounding success, setting a benchmark for future academic events at St. Xavier’s University Kolkata.
