The students of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata assembled virtually for a webinar hosted by the Xaverians in Action (XIA) on the 8th of May 2021, aiming to spread awareness on various Social Issues through Art and Creativity.

Various social issues like Child Abuse, Domestic Violence on Women, Women's Empowerment, Rights of the Aged and Disabled, LGBT Community, Tribals/Dalits, Prostitutes, Global Warming and Environmental, Migrant Labour Crisis and the Farm Laws in India were discussed.

Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ graced the event and delivered a message to the student community. He shared interesting anecdotes about the contributions made by the students of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata as they participated actively in the College-to-Village and Village-to-College, a flagship project that gave birth to St. Xavier's College (Raghabpur Campus) which caters to 1200+ village youth of South 24 Parganas. He also emphasised upon the need for all Xaverians to be sensitive towards social issues and exhibit solidarity towards the marginal, poor and needy.

Dr. Chetan, Dean of Arts and Social Studies, delivered an impactful speech on Art and Social Issues.

XIA Committee members used this opportunity to spread awareness on the outreach activities undertaken by the University especially the University-to-Village and Village-to-University (UVVU) Programme which was started by Honourable Father Vice-Chancellor.
