Two Minds Evolving Together: Human Purpose in Education and Work
Faculty of Science in collaboration with Xavier’s Society for Science and Innovation (XSSI) from St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata organised a one-day seminar titled “Two Minds Evolving Together: Human Purpose in Education and Work,” followed by a panel discussion on theme “Skills for Tomorrow” with distinguished representatives from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
The programme provided a valuable platform for academic–industry interaction, bringing together industry professionals, faculty members, and students to reflect on the evolving relationship between human capabilities, education, technology, and the changing world of work. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Xavier Jeyaraj, S.J., the Registrar of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. The invited representatives from TCS were felicitated by Fr. Registrar and Dr. Shuvendu Chakraborty, Dean, Faculty of Science. In his inaugural address, Fr. Jeyaraj highlighted the importance of meaningful interaction between academia and industry and emphasised the need to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and adaptability required to respond to the evolving demands of higher education, technology, and the professional world.
The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Himadri Sikhar Pramanik, Program Director – Thought Leadership and Growth Advisory, TCS, on “Two Minds Evolving Together: Human Purpose in Education and Work.” The session explored the evolving role of human purpose, learning, and adaptability in education and the workplace, particularly in the context of rapid technological development.
The keynote session was followed by a panel discussion, which brought together speakers from TCS and St. Xavier’s University Kolkata. The panel consisted of:

- Mr. Sayantan Datta — Program Director – Thought Leadership and Research Advisory, TCS
- Mr. Dipayan Chakraborty — Senior Business Research Consultant, North America Major Market Tribe, TCS
- Prof. (Dr.) Sugata Sen Roy — Adjunct Senior Professor, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Soma Debnath (PIC, XSSI), Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.
