SXUK sparks Tech Talk on National Engineers’ Day

St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK), through the Xavier School of Engineering and Technology (XSET), in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology (WBAST), celebrated the National Engineers’ Day 2026 on September 15, 2026 at the university campus.

 

The programme brought together academicians, industry professionals and students to discuss the evolving role of engineering and technology in contemporary society. The event began with an introduction by the student emcee, followed by the felicitation of the invited speakers by Dr. Tanushree Biswas, Head, XSET.

 

Prof. Amlan J. Pal, President, WBAST, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Arpan Pal, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) delivered a lecture on “Intelligent Systems for the Cyber-physical World — at the Intersection of Sensing, Computing and AI,” The session provided students with an industry perspective on emerging technologies and their applications.

 

The programme also featured a presentation by the SXUK Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and a tech quiz, offering students an opportunity to engage with technology beyond the classroom.

 

Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti, A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta gave an insightful lecture on “Engineering the Future: From Artificial Intelligence to Quantum Computing”. 

 

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, enabling students to engage with the speakers on engineering, innovation and emerging technologies. Dr. Sayan Das, Assistant Professor, Computer Science, XSET, proposed the vote of thanks.
