The walkathon was held as a significant outreach initiative ahead of the University’s 10th Foundation Day, reflecting the institution’s enduring commitment to social responsibility, harmony, and collective well-being.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 1,000 participants comprising Jesuit fathers, alumni, students, faculty members and staff of the university.
The walk, which was flagged off at 8:30am by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Vice-Chancellor, SXUK and President, SXUKAA, commenced from the university gate and proceeded up to the iconic Biswa Bangla Gate, before returning to the University premises.
The long stretch of walkers presented a vibrant and inspiring sight, symbolising unity in diversity and the shared aspiration for a peaceful society.
Adding colour and purpose to the walk, enthusiastic students carried placards and banners bearing messages of peace, harmony, and non-violence, engaging onlookers and passers-by and spreading awareness about the importance of coexistence in today’s world. The disciplined and spirited participation of the walkers underscored the strong Xaverian values of service, solidarity, and social engagement.
