Students of the Department of Mass Communication, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) attended the Media and Entertainment Conclave (MECON) 2025, organised by the Film Federation of India in association with Techno India Group, on January 31, 2025, at Fairfield Hotel, Kolkata.

The event saw the participation of industry professionals, and key representatives from the West Bengal government, including Ministers, Mr. Sujit Bose and Mr. Babul Supriyo.

MECON 2025 provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the evolving landscape of the media and entertainment (M&E) industry. Experts addressed significant challenges and opportunities in the television industry, analysing its current state and potential for growth.

The discussion also covered the OTT ecosystem, focusing on the rise of digital platforms, changing audience preferences, and the impact on traditional media. Other key topics included technological advancements and content creation in the sector.

In addition to the thought-provoking sessions, the conclave offered valuable networking opportunities, allowing students and young professionals to engage with established industry figures. This interaction provided insights into career prospects and emerging trends in the industry. Students found the event highly encouraging.
