SXUK launches new chapter with XSET
St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) marked a historic milestone with the Blessing Ceremony of the newly established Xavier School of Engineering and Technology (XSET) on July 30, 2026, paving the way for the launch of its first B.Tech. programme for the 2026–27 academic session.
Held ahead of the XSET’s official inauguration on August 4 and the student induction programme scheduled from August 5 to 14, the ceremony symbolised SXUK’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation in engineering education.
The ceremony was led by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Vice Chancellor, who blessed the XSET’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Workshops, Computer Laboratory, Dean’s Office, Physics Laboratory, Electrical Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory, and the Departmental Library. The occasion reflected the university’s vision of creating a modern learning environment equipped with advanced academic infrastructure.
Following the blessing, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at Hall of Fame 2 to celebrate the successful establishment of XSET. Addressing the gathering, Father Felix Raj shared the vision and journey behind the establishment of the new School. He encouraged faculty and staff to pursue academic excellence, embrace innovation, and work with dedication to build XSET into a premier centre for engineering education.
Dr. Tanushree Biswas, Associate Professor, also addressed the audience, recounting the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of the XSET and appreciating the commitment of everyone involved in the initiative.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tuhin Utsab Paul, Dean, XSET.
