SXUK hosts Synapse 2025
St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) successfully hosted Synapse 2025, the first student placement committee summit, a visionary initiative by the Training and Placement Department. The summit marked a key milestone in promoting a placement-driven culture and enhancing student-industry synergy.
Presided over by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Vice-Chancellor of SXUK, the event featured esteemed guests including Vivek Chawla, Director and CEO of Emami Paper Mills Ltd., as Chief Guest, and CS Debendra Banthiya, Legal Head of Emami Paper Mills Ltd. and an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
CS (Dr.) Mohit Shaw, Convenor of Synapse 2025, opened the summit by sharing the vision behind building a student-led placement ecosystem. Father Felix Raj lauded the initiative, emphasizing experiential learning and academia-industry collaboration.
In his keynote, Vivek Chawla offered invaluable insights into career preparedness, internship exposure, and professional growth. His address inspired over 100 student placement committee members with its emphasis on humility, discipline, and hard work.
A special certificate ceremony recognised the core committee for their exceptional contribution to the summit’s planning and execution.
Deans, Departmental Placement In-Charges, Coordinators, and faculty members lent strong institutional support through their active presence, underscoring the university’s commitment to holistic student development.
The summit concluded with an interactive session, defining the committee’s roadmap and values — professionalism, integrity, and service-driven leadership.
