In a bid to foster awareness towards protecting environment among students and staff members, the Expert Committee for Environmental Education of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised a poster competition and exhibition on November 10 and 11, 2023 at the university campus.

While inaugurating the exhibition, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK said, “It is our responsibility to save Mother Earth and keep it worthy of living for future generations. We must think and work rationally to protect the earth and the environment.”

The exhibition was named ‘Xaverian Environmentalist’. On both days, students from different departments showed their creative skills by making posters.

Dr. Kaberi Datta, an academician from Sarojini Naidu College for Women was invited as the expert to judge the entries. Prof. Debatri Banerjee of SXUK also coordinated with her.

The theme of the competition was ‘Nurture: Nature.’ Posters made by the students exuded vibrant depictions of Mother Nature as they explained the ways to ensure a green, sustainable world. The audience was amazed by the variety of interpretations of the theme and applauded the efforts of students.

Students found the initiative highly enriching and realised their role in environmental conservation.
