Department of Economics of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) in collaboration with the Jesuit Economics Association of India, hosted the third Annual Economics Conference on February 21-22, 2025 at the university campus. The theme was “Contemporary Issues in Economic Theory & Policy” and it was co-sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

The conference featured distinguished keynote speakers, including Prof. Jayati Ghosh, University of Massachusetts, USA, and Prof. Pulapre Balakrishnan, Centre for Development Studies, Kerala.

The special lecture sessions saw captivating presentations by renowned academicians like Prof. Sambit Bhattacharyya, University of Sussex, UK; Prof. Saumya Chakrabarti, Visva-Bharati; Prof. Krishnendu Ghosh Dastidar, Jawaharlal Nehru University; and Prof. Priyadarshi Banerjee, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The valedictory lecture was delivered by Prof. Rajat Acharya, Jadavpur University.
