St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) celebrated the Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus at the Britto House in the university campus on July 31, 2023.

Most Rev. Thomas D’Souza, the Archbishop of Calcutta celebrated the Eucharist for the university community. He also visited the entire campus and had a lunch with the Jesuit Fathers as a part of the celebration.

He was very appreciative of the infrastructure of the university which has been developed within a short span of time. While delivering the sermon, he applauded the work of the Jesuits and the contribution of the SXUK towards the development of higher education in the state of Bengal as well as in the country.

Archbishop also appreciated the social works carried out by SXUK as a whole in the neighbourhood villages. He further said that he was happy to see the mission of the SXUK is keeping in line with the Jesuit motto of Magis and Nihil Ultra (Nothing Beyond).

Father Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK thanked the Archbishop for his visit and his wholehearted support to the Jesuit work at SXUK.
