Students of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) were felicitated by Akashvani Kolkata on August 5, 2023 at the G D Birla Sabhaghar, Kolkata for their participation in a contest, organised by Akashvani as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.’

Esha Chakrabarty, a postgraduate student of Department of English, SXUK bagged the first prize among the contestants of four universities of West Bengal.

Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK congratulated the students on their success. He said, “Our students have made us proud through their creative performance. I wish our students to participate in more such cultural activities.”

In a bid to spread the cultural ethos of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ among the students of higher studies as directed by the Government of India, the Akashvani Kolkata visited the SXUK campus on July 24, 2023. They organised a quiz contest on Indian history, literature, Indian culture and global politics in the university campus. An extempore was also held on topics like ‘Khelo India’, ‘Putul Nach’, ‘Bangla Rock’, etc.

The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Manali Bhattacharya and Mrs. Krishna Roy, Deputy Chairperson and Assistant Chairperson of Students’ Board respectively. Both of them equally expressed happiness on the success of the students. A large number of students from the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University and Rabindra Bharati University also participated in the contest.
