Xavier Sports Society of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised the Annual Sports Day 2026 at the university playground on February 7, 2026.

Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Vice-Chancellor of SXUK inaugurated the programme. Shri Bhaskar Mukherjee, IPS was the Guest of Honour. All Jesuit Fathers, Sisters, officers, faculty members, non-teaching staff, students and members of the alumni association were present.

The programme began with a parade by the Army Band, Bihar Regiment, followed by the faculty members, support staff, the NCC contingent, and, most importantly, the students’ contingents from all faculties and schools of the university.

Father Felix Raj and Mr. Mukherjee hoisted the Sports Society Flag and set a flight of pigeons free. A large number of both undergraduate and postgraduate students competed in a series of sports event.

Anuran Paul of BMS bagged the Fr. Joseph Maliyekal Memorial Trophy, and Aanya Paul of B. Com won the Fr. Joe D’Souza Memorial Trophy as the best male and female athletes for 2025-26.

Father Felix Raj blessed the best male and female athletes with scholarships. The event concluded with the cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a community lunch.
