As a part of the knowledge exchange programme and educational tour, postgraduate students of the Department of Mass Communication of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh visited the St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) campus on April 29, 2024.

The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into media and communication processes, particularly focusing on studio operations and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). They were accompanied by Dr. Arvind Kumar, a faculty member of RGU.

Dr. Harish Kumar, Head of Department of Mass Communication, SXUK coordinated the entire event. Mr. Asok Dasgupta, Studio Coordinator and Mr. Bendict Gomes, Technical Assistant of the Department of Mass Communication elaborated on the intricate processes involved in studio operations.

Other faculty members explained the workflow of producing media content, from conceptualization to execution, highlighting the role of technology and teamwork in creating impactful productions.

Two groups of SXUK students discussed role of social media in forming public opinion and on ‘Gender and Media’. An interactive session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also held between the students of the two universities.

This session aimed to bridge the gap between media studies and emerging technologies. Students of both universities witnessed different collaborative activities and learned the integration of technology in media production.
