RDC of SXUK hosts special lecture
Research Development Cell (RDC) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) hosted a special lecture on ‘Research from perception to practice’ on September 3, 2024 at the university campus.
The speaker was Dr. Biswajit Ghosh, Vice Chancellor of the Neotia University. A total number of 80 faculty members and Ph.D. research scholars attended the lecture.
While delivering the inaugural speech, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Vice-Chancellor of SXUK said, “A researcher should be aware of any potential conflict of interests. Research serves as a foundation for evidence-based decision-making, promoting innovation, and fostering continuous improvement in professional practices.” “This special lecture aims to enrich the system of critical thinking and cognitive skills,” he added.
Dr. Ghosh vividly explained the concept of research. He said, “Research is a systematic process of collecting and analyzing information and data in order to increase one’s understanding of the phenomenon about which he is concerned or interested.” While narrating the criteria for quality research, he emphasized the role of research in decision-making. He also deliberated on detailed analysis of different types of research, skills for conducting good research, and steps for writing thesis.
