The Rotary Club, Central Calcutta organized a programme for promoting conservation of nature and greenery - PLANT A TREE, PLANT A HOPE at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata on 21st of July 2018. The club provided around 100 saplings and 25 plants, including mango, coconut, hibiscus, and sunflower. The event was graced by the presence of a number of dignitaries, students and teachers of the university.

Father Vice Chancellor and other dignitaries planted trees in the campus accompanied by students of the University including some students from Loreto.

The Rotary Club of Central Calcutta then felicitated Father Felix Raj, Fr. Soosai Nayagam, Fr. Arulappan Rayappan,Fr. Arul Raj, Fr. Jeyakumar, Prof Ashis Mitra and others. Rotary Club President Mr. Amit Rungta, Secretary Mr. Avinaash R. Bubna, Vice President Mr. Rajesh Agarwal and Project Chairman, Mr. R R Agarwalwere present at the programme.

St. Xavier's University has always supported and promoted the growth of greenery all round and the PLANT A TREE, PLANT A HOPE campaign proved to be a strong catalyst to motivate all present on the occasion to carry on such activities in future.
