The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, hosted an online panel discussion on the Impact of National Educational Policy, 2020 on November 20, 2020 at 3.30pm. Respected Father Vice-Chancellor Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S. J. inaugurated the event with his eloquent, persuasive and vivid ideas on the New Education Policy and the changes necessary in the education system in Higher Education Institutions.
The panellists were Professor Dr. Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Professor Dr. Basab Chaudhuri, Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal State University, Kolkata and Dr. Achyut Chetan, Associate Professor of English, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata.
The panellists focussed on diverse issues pertaining to the New Education Policy viz. the new pattern of higher education, the exit points within an under graduate degree program, relation of employment with the new educational pattern, the multi-disciplinary approach of higher education, the extent and degree of financial and academic autonomy of HEIs in India, the reality behind internationalization of India's higher education system, the matter on vocationalisation of education, and so on and so forth.
The entire conversation was moderated by Dr. Manodip Ray Chaudhuri, Dean - Xavier Business School, St. Xavier's University, Kollkata. The vote of thanks was delivered expressively by Respected Registrar of St. Xavier's University, Professor Ashish Mitra. The discussion ended with an unanimous and undisputed thrust on knowing how to change and how to think for fostering a vibrant, vivacious, evocative and meaningful higher education system in India.
