On 26th November, 2020, the XAVIER LEGAL AID SOCIETY (XLAS) organised a webinar on "Transformative Constitutionalism: Issues and Challenges" on the occasion of Constitution Day, to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India.
Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J. inaugurated the session with his words of wisdom. This was followed by the administering of pledge on the Preamble of the Indian Constitution by Prof. Ashis Mitra, Registrar. The webinar was graced by Dr. Uday Shankar, Associate Professor, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Dr. Manwendra Kumar Tiwari, Associate Professor of Law, Dharmashatra National Law University, Jabalpur, who addressed the participants with their engaging deliberations on transformative constitutionalism in India as a tool in interpreting various provisions of the Constitution in general and socio-economic rights in particular. The session was moderated by Dr. Animesh Das, Assistant Professor of Law, Xavier Law School. The event came to an end by concluding remarks from Dr. Debasis Poddar, Dean, Xavier Law School and vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ranjeeta Mukherjee, Convenor, Xavier Legal Aid Society.
