Mamata Banerjee Celebrates Christmas with Jesuit Fathers
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee celebrated Christmas with the Jesuit Fathers on December 19th evening at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. She inaugurated the crib and paid a floral tribute to the Child Jesus. During the Christmas function, she honored Fr. Aloysius Carvalho for 75 years of service as a Jesuit and Fr. Felix Raj for his golden jubilee as a Jesuit.
Fr. Felix Raj praised Mamata Banerjee, calling her a messenger of peace. He thanked her for gifting 17 acres of land to St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) in 2013 and for establishing the Mother Teresa Chair for peace at SXUK. He also appreciated her government's efforts in maintaining communal harmony and diversity in West Bengal.
Mamata Banerjee expressed her affection for St. Xavier's and the Jesuit Fathers, calling them her second home. She commended them for their outstanding contributions to education and social service in West Bengal. She shared her personal struggles as a young leader and spoke about the significance of Christmas. Minister and Mayor Firhad Hakim accompanied her to the event.
