Department of Mass Communication of the St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) in collaboration with the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), New Delhi organised a two-day digital-filmmaking workshop using AI and Drones on March 4 to 5, 2025.

The workshop aimed to educate students on utilising cutting-edge technology to enhance the filming and editing process, making it more efficient and innovative. The esteemed guests for the workshop included Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director, AIMC; and two other faculty members, Naveen Gautam and Ankit Kumar Malyan of AIMC.

The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Susmita Halder, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Studies. In these two days, students learned uses of professional cameras, capturing stable and cinematic shots using gimbals and drones. Experts taught the students how to create short films and use of AI-driven editing tools in colour correction, sound enhancement, and video stabilization. Students found this workshop highly enriching.
