Biographical Sketch

Dr. Madhukrishna Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics under the Faculty of Commerce and Management at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. She completed her BSc Hons in Mathematics and MSc in Mathematics from Jadavpur University. She bagged the Jadavpur University Gold Medal for standing 1st class 1st in MSc examination. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Jadavpur University with a thesis entitled "Classical and Quantum Analysis of Gravitational Singularity: A Study of Raychaudhuri Equation." Her research interests lie at the intersection of Applied Mathematics, Differential geometry, Mathematical General Relativity, Cosmology, and Theoretical Astrophysics. Her work primarily focuses on various Mathematical aspects of Raychaudhuri equation, spacetime singularities, modified theories of gravity, black holes, wormholes, data analysis of various cosmological models, gravitational lensing, Quasinormal modes, Lorentzian and Finsler geometry. She has published a lot of SCI/Scopus-indexed research articles in internationally reputed journals such as Classical and Quantum Gravity, Physics of the Dark Universe, Nuclear Physics B, European Physical Journal C, Annals of Physics, and Journal of High Energy Astrophysics. She also serves as a reviewer for leading international journals including Nuclear Physics B, European Physical Journal C, and Physics Open.

Teaching Experience

  • Prior to joining St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata Dr. Chakraborty served as a full time Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Techno India University, West Bengal and Adamas University, West Bengal. She also taught Engineering Mathematics to B. Tech students of Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
