Xavier’s University Cultural and Arts Society (XUCAS) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) celebrated ‘Jalsa ’24: A Soirée with Lata ji’ to commemorate the 95th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar at the university campus.

The event was inaugurated in the grand presence of Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, S.J., Vice-Chancellor of SXUK, Prof. Ashis Mitra, Registrar, Dr. Indra Kanta Moitra, Controller of Examinations, other dignitaries, faculty and non-teaching staff members.

The soirée included various renditions and songs that span over Lata Mangeshkar’s vibrant career of over eight decades. The event marked a confluence of classical and Indian-Western fusion musical renditions that left the audience enthralled.

Audience also enjoyed an impromptu dance celebration along with the solo music of the immortal songs, sung by the great singer. Dr. Antara Ghatak
