XSSI hosts inter-college science and innovation meet
Xavier Society for Science and Innovation (XSSI) organized a two-day inter-college science and innovation event on January 16-17, 2026 at the university campus. The theme was “The Indian Mosaic: Traditions and Tales.”
These events provided an exciting platform for students across the city to engage in creativity, scientific reasoning, data interpretation, technical problem-solving, etc.
In the Cyber Myths of Kolkata Nights, an AI art competition, participants reimagined Indian mythological characters as cyberpunk warriors against Kolkata’s skyline using generative AI tools. The event was evaluated by Prof. Chiradeep Mukherjee, Prof. Saubhik Bandyopadhyay, and Prof. Debaditya Raychaudhuri. The event aimed to test artistic vision and technical proficiency of students in utilizing generative AI tools to achieve a cohesive theme.
The Desi Data Dash was a data storytelling and visualization competition that combined analytical thinking with creative narrative-building. Participants performed data exploration, cleaning, visualization, and then presented compelling stories linking insights to the event’s cultural theme. Dr. Soumya Banerjee and Mr. Keshav Jhunjhunwala judged the event.
The academic dimension of the meet was further enriched by The Cosmic Conference, a round-table discussion that encouraged thoughtful exchange of ideas. Prof. Suparna Sen and Prof. Jhalak Dutta served as the esteemed judges for the session.
Codemathan, the flagship technical event of XSSI pushed participants through escalating levels of difficulty, testing not just correctness but efficiency, speed, and strategic thinking under pressure. The event was judged by industry experts Mr. Arnab K. Saha, Prof. Aniruddha Choudhuri, and Mr. Arnab Das.
