SXUKAA Organises Blood Donation Camp as Part of Philanthropy Day Celebrations
The St. Xavier’s University Kolkata Alumni Association (SXUKAA) organised its Annual Blood Donation Camp on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, as part of its Annual Philanthropy Day Celebrations. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors of West Bengal and the Maheshwari Foundation Lions Club Howrah Blood Bank.
The camp was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SXUK & President, SXUKAA, and Mr. Sudhir Maheshwari, Founder & Managing Partner, Synergy Capital. Mr. Maheshwari, a proud Xaverian and alumnus of St. Xavier’s, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sangita Maheshwari.
In his Welcome Address, Rev. Fr. Felix Raj expressed his gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Maheshwari for gracing the occasion and for their continued support and association with St. Xavier’s University. He also appreciated the efforts of SXUKAA and its office-bearers in organising the initiative and promoting the spirit of service within the Xavierian community.
The occasion held special significance owing to Mr. Maheshwari’s longstanding association with St. Xavier’s and his contribution to the cause of voluntary blood donation. The Maheshwari Foundation Lions Club Howrah Blood Bank, which partnered with SXUKAA for the camp, was established by Mr. Maheshwari.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Maheshwari thanked SXUKAA for the initiative and the warm reception extended to him. Recalling his long association with the St. Xavier’s family, he spoke fondly of his years connected with the institution and his association with Fr. Felix Raj. He appreciated the Alumni Association’s efforts towards encouraging voluntary blood donation and community service.
The camp received an encouraging response, with more than 200 donors registering to participate. The Student Board actively collaborated with SXUKAA in facilitating the initiative, while faculty, staff, students and alumni also extended their wholehearted support.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Vatsal Chirimar, Honorary Secretary, SXUKAA.
The Blood Donation Camp was a meaningful expression of the Xavierian spirit of service, compassion and solidarity, bringing together the University and its alumni community for a cause that can make a vital difference in the lives of others.
