St. Xavier’s University Kolkata Alumni Association (SXUKAA) celebrated the birthday of its President Rev. Fr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata as ‘Philanthropy Day’ in the University Campus on August 26, 2022. Fr. Raj’s newly authored book ‘Tides-Story Bank’ was also released on this day.

‘Philanthropy Day’ is a day on which the SXUKAA recommits itself to the cause of philanthropy and social welfare every year. Xaverian Shri Jawhar Sircar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha was the Chief Guest to this grand gathering.

‘Tides-Story Bank’, a collection of seventy five (75) short stories, is Fr. Raj’s second book after the first one namely ‘Waves-Story Bank’ which was released on December 3, 2020. ‘Tides-Story bank’ contains stories of moral values aiming to pacify minds. The book has been published by SXUKAA. The foreword has been written by Shri Shashi Tharoor, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha).

Shri Jawhar Sircar addressed the august gathering of faculty members after which the alumni association organized the Philanthropy Day celebrations and the book launch programme. Fr. Raj also handed over the hearing aids to beneficiaries belonging to the economically weaker section of society. A video presentation showing some prized moments of Fr. Raj’s life was also shown.
