In a bid to upgrade the awareness on insurance plans and policies and its management, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised Insurance Awareness Programme for its MBA students at the University campus on October 20, 2022 in collaboration with the Indian Insurance Institute (III), Kolkata. The topic was ‘Beemagyan’. It was a special initiative by the Centre for Incubation, Consultancy & Entrepreneurship (CICE), SXUK along with Fr. Lafont Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation (LCERI) and Xavier Business School (XBS).

The Chief Guest was Mr. Amar Kumar Goswami, Working President, III, Kolkata. Dr. Soma Sur, Hony. Director, LCERI, felicitated him. In his keynote address, Mr. Goswami mentioned how life insurance protects life values and takes vital roles in decision making.

Mr. Suprakash Banerjee, Research Convener of that institute presented detailed topic covering different types of insurance, reinsurance, promotional offers, life & non-life insurance. The interactive session with XBS students was conducted by Mr. Manish Nahata, Joint Secretary, III, Kolkata. He also spoke on term insurance, pure endowment, role of IRDAI and more. Students found the session highly insightful.

Ms. Bidisha Roy
