The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) cell of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised a special lecture at its inaugural ceremony on September 15, 2025 at the university campus.

The event marked the beginning of a significant academic initiative aimed at integrating India’s indigenous wisdom with modern education.

Prof. Joy Sen, Professor, IIT Kharagpur delivered a speech on “The Contemporary Relevance of Indian Knowledge System within the Fold of SXUK Imperatives.” He emphasized the need to reconnect with India’s intellectual and cultural roots and reflected on the relevance of the Vedas and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in reviving holistic knowledge traditions.

Prof. Sen also highlighted contributions from the Bengal Renaissance and Jesuit scholars, stressing the harmony between Indian ethos and modern scientific thought. Faculty members and students from different schools and departments attended the lecture.
