A special session was organised by the Department of Commerce (Morning Section) via Zoom platform for students of the Department of Commerce (Morning Section) on the 11th of February 2021. The speaker for the event was CA Mr. Arijit Chakraborty, Institute of Internal Auditors, India - Kolkata Chapter and Panel Member of ICAI. The Webinar commenced with a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Dr. Soosai Nayagam S.J., Associate Dean of the Department of Commerce (Morning Section). To begin with, a brief discussion took place on - what is a budget?, its importance and relevance for an economy. The concepts of budget were explained in relation with the income statement of a company for better understanding of the commerce students. The 'V' shaped recovery of India post COVID-19 was also talked about before a detailed analysis of Budget 2021-22.
Moving on, what does Budget 2021-22 actually mean for the students, farmers, migrants health workers and corporates was explained in details by our guest speaker. How the budget would strengthen the start-up ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture in the country caught the attention of the students. Towards the end of the session, amendments in Budget 2021-22 in comparison to 2020-21 was discussed.
