St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) took a significant step towards a greener future with a mango tree plantation drive on its campus, led by Rev. Fr. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J., the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor. On July 9, 2025, Fr. Felix Raj planted four mango saplings in front of the Britto House, symbolizing growth, nourishment, and the university's commitment to environmental sustainability.

The mango tree, a revered symbol of abundance and tradition, was chosen to embody SXUK's cultural and ecological values. The event drew alumni and staff members, who joined in celebrating the university's dedication to promoting ecological awareness. This initiative is part of SXUK's broader efforts to enhance biodiversity, foster a deeper connection with nature, and inspire a sense of responsibility among its community members.
