Fr. Lafont Centre for Excellence in Research and Innovation (LCERI) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised a symposium on incubation on September 23, 2023 at the university campus.

The symposium began with an orientation seminar on ‘Innovation, Incubation and Start-ups’ for the students. Prof. Asish Mitra, Registrar of SXUK delivered the inaugural address.

Dr. Siddhartha Das, Professor In-charge, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Prabal K Sen, former Professor and Founder Chairperson, Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), XLRI, Jamshedpur and Mr. Gaurav Kapoor, Chief Business Officer, Innovation Park, IIM Calcutta were the invited speakers.

Dr. Siddhartha Das and Dr. Prabal K. Sen addressed the audience on factors influencing success of incubation and entrepreneurship. Mr. Gaurav Kapoor shared videos of real-life cases.

The seminar was followed by a round table discussion between the faculty members of SXUK and external experts on the initiation of the incubation centre.

Dr. Soma Sur from Xavier Business School (XBS); Dr. Monalika Dey, Faculty of Commerce and Management; Dr. Debalina Chakravarty, Department of Economics; Dr. Asif Iqubal Shah, Xavier Law School; Dr. Monojit Dutta, Faculty of Commerce & Management and Dr. Tutun Mukherjee from XBS participated in the discussion.

Dr. Soma Sur, Hony Director, LCERI delivered the vote of thanks.
