The new academic session of Department of Mass Communication of the University started with a grand orientation programme through a lecture series by eminent media professionals and academicians. Started on July 18, 2022, the department organised a lecture series by Jimmy Tangree, a noted Radio Jockey of 91.9 Friends FM; followed by Mahesh Motwani, Executive Vice President, Initiative Media; Atanu Ghosh, an eminent film director and Suchorita Bardhan, UNICEF official, Kolkata who delivered valuable speeches to enthuse the students in the next two days.

Jimmy Tangree filled the air with enthusiasm and energy as he narrated his story of setting his foot in the industry to become an RJ. He also shared various career opportunities in radio industry. Mahesh Motwani, an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata discussed the career oriented programmes and prospects in integrated marketing communication. He introduced the role of media in advertisements and brand promotions with his presentation.

National Award winning director Atanu Ghosh interacted with the students who from being movie buffs and binge watchers were exposed to ‘behind the scenes’ procedure of film making. Fans of his movies from other departments also joined to listen to him. Ms. Suchorita Bardhan described the role of development journalism as a whole. Students found each session highly enriching.
