In a bid to celebrate the Unity Day, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised the Unity Run on October 31, 2022. One hundred students of the University spontaneously participated in the event that started from the University campus at 7 o’clock in the morning and ended at 8 am.

The spirit was so high that 35 student volunteers reported at the University campus at the wee hours of the day to carry out the programme successfully. Ashis Mitra, Registrar, SXUK addressed the participants. The entire programme was coordinated by the Sports Society of SXUK.

‘Run for unity’ is a special initiative by the University Grants Commission, which aimed to organise approximately 75,000 such runs across the country on that day and at that aforementioned specific time to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India.
