Discourse on health awareness, family planning and sustainable development centred around the orientation programme, organised by the Department of Social Work of the University through a series of invited lectures for its postgraduate students of new academic session on July 22, 2022.

Distinguished academicians from international universities and institutions of repute delivered speeches on several topics related to the social work. Prof. Tulshi Kumar Das from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh delivered a lecture on the essential field work practices of social work in various spheres like hospital, mental health, family setting, children and youth, community setting, ethnic minorities, correctional centres, etc.

Riya Agarwal, Senior Officer, Public Engagement, Sense International India enlightened the students on the role of a social worker, methods of fund raising, etc. Baishali Ghosh, Assistant Manager, Bandhan Bank discussed the role of a social worker as a HR officer and significance of corporate social responsibilities (CSR). Srijoyee Sen, CSR Officer, Park Hospitals, Kolkata also shared her experiences of carrying out various CSR activities.

Priyanka Jaiswal, Programme Officer, CLTS Foundation explained the problems of open defecation and its consequences. Students found the programme highly enriching on the very first day of their new academic session.
