In an effort to keep its students aware of practical works in television industry, the Department of Mass Communication, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) organised a television studio visit for its undergraduate and postgraduate final semester students on February 12 and 15, 2024.

The aim was to bridge the gap between classroom theories and the practical intricacies of audio-visual production.

Students visited the New Theatres Film Studio (NT-1) along with Dr. Sithara Puli Venkatesh and Prof. Debasish Sen, faculty members of the department.

Students learned how in a tightly packed schedule, shooting was carried out for the daily soaps that are currently running on prominent Bengali television channels.

They also met the cast and crew of different Bengali television productions and had conversations with directors, assistant directors, art directors, camera men and sound recordists.

Students also realised the practical outcomes of pre-production, production and post-production stages involved in television programming. They also gained first-hand experience in acting, direction, celebrity management, time management, creativity and other nuances of script to screen journey in the television industry.
