Dr. Prayag Ray

• DEL International Award, worth £13,860 per annum, funding PhD study at Queen's University Belfast, 2014-2017.
• Awarded the Bankim Niranjan Memorial Prize in 2012 for securing the highest marks in English among male candidates in the Jadavpur University M.A. examination 2011, by the English Language Lovers' Association, West Bengal.
• Awarded the Indu Bhusan Putatunda and Shanti Sudha Putatunda Memorial Award 2008 for securing the highest marks in the English department in the 2nd Year University Examination, by The Alumni Association, NCE Bengal, and Jadavpur University.

Prof. Medha Bhadra Chowdhury

• Awarded the Prof. H.K. Sarkar Memorial Prize in 2013 for securing highest marks in 3rd year examinations in English Honours, Department of English, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata
• Awarded the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in June 2014 and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) in 2016, at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Dr. Indira Bhattacharya Chakraborty

• Awarded for participation in a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship Project of 4 weeks in OUCIP (Osmania University Centre for International Programmes) conducted from 21 August 2013 to 17 September 2013.
• Currently working as Junior UPE Fellow (Documentation of Cultural Texts Sub-group) iSchool of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University in the program 'Cultural Resources and Social Sciences' which is under the UGC Scheme 'University with Potential for Excellence- Phase II.'

The students of the Department of English are actively engaged in events and activities beyond the classroom and represent the department in through their participation in various events within and outside the University. In this regard many have been awarded and received distinctions in various activities. On the recommendations of Govt. of India for a "Vigilance Awareness Week" an interdepartmental essay competition was hosted by St. Xavier's University, Kolkata and organized and sponsored by The Hindu and Coal India Ltd on 31/10/2019 on Integrity- A Way of Life in which the students of the Department won prizes. 2 students qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) and one student is pursuing Ph.D. programme in Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Harshita Srivastava- Received the Dr. Bibhas Roy Centenary Memorial Prize awarded by Loreto College for academic excellence in 2019.
