On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the torch was lit up at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata on February 19, 2020. Fr. Felix Raj, Vice-Chancellor received the Torch that was flagged off at Dhaka University, Bangladesh and travelled to Darjeeling - Burdwan - Raghavpur (South 24 Parganas) before it was brought to Kolkata.
The concept of SANYOG is to promote each and every native mother language all across the globe. The aim of this event is to rejuvenate Mother Language's glory and to spread it among all; upholding everyone's rich cultural heritage.
The purpose was to bring people together and to build a bond beyond borders. "Though politics divides us, mother language unites us. We pay our deep respect and tribute to our mother language today," said Fr. Felix Raj in his address.
The dignitaries were felicitated by SANYOG 2020 team and a cultural programme was organised by the students of SXUK.
