The Department of Economics, St. Xavier's University Kolkata hosted its first edition of the ANNUAL ECONOMICS SUMMIT themed INDIAN ECONOMY IN GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE on 14th March 2020. The event witnessed an overwhelming response in its first year with 200 home students and 168 external students coming together to take part in the events and display their acumen in the subject in such a prestigious and competitive platform.

Xavier's University Economics Society (XAVECOS) was inaugurated on 11th April 2019. The society has various student representatives from both of our B.A. and M. A. course. The society conducts various seminars, workshops and other programs for the knowledge upliftment of the students in which there is participation of students from other colleges also.

A Research group has been created by the Department of Economics which consists of all the Economics Professors of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. It conducts various programs from time to time which provides platform to the professors and also to the M. A. students to present their research work and help them to collect ideas and suggestions for improvement of the work.
