Message from Vice-Chancellor

As we step into the New Year 2026, I extend my heartfelt greetings to each one of you. Your presence at St. Xavier's University marks the beginning of a profound and life-shaping journey—one that invites you to dream boldly, think deeply, and grow into your fullest potential.

Rooted in the Jesuit tradition, St. Xavier's University is a community of purpose committed to holistic and transformative education. Guided by the values of cura personalis, magis, and service, we strive to form questioning minds, compassionate hearts, and responsible leaders who are attentive to society's needs, committed to justice, and inspired to illuminate minds, transform lives, and spread hope through meaningful action.

As we celebrate our 10th Foundation Day on February 8 this year, I reflect on our journey since 2017. We have grown steadily, embracing innovation and excellence through new programmes. From the upcoming academic session, we will introduce four undergraduate engineering programmes: B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), CSE with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Information Technology (IT).

Our academic community comprises 4,064 students, supported by 138 dedicated faculty members, 23 officers, and 94 committed support staff. We are enriched by 153 research scholars pursuing doctoral studies, with 31 scholars having earned their Ph.D. degrees to date.

Guided by SXUK Vision 2030, we aspire to expand our student community to 10,000 by 2030, emerging as a premier institution known for academic distinction, innovative research, and holistic formation.

Recent milestones include academic partnerships with Antara Institute of Health Sciences, Mahidol University, and the West Bengal State Council of Science and Technology, connecting us to 16 institutions worldwide. We received the "Most Usage in East India 2024-25" award and established the Father Verstraeten Centre for Public Policy and Governance.

Our commitment to service is reflected in initiatives like the Legal Aid Clinic and the inauguration of the NCC unit. Our campus remains a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space, encouraging open dialogue, spiritual exploration, and personal growth.

As you move forward, I invite you to pursue excellence with integrity, build relationships grounded in respect and empathy, engage courageously in service and advocacy, and deepen your inner life. May the Jesuit spirit guide your choices and shape your purpose.

May this year fill us with wisdom to discern rightly, compassion to serve generously, and joy to walk together in hope.

Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J.
